Exhibition stand design Dubai: cost, timeline and build
A 12 sqm custom exhibition stand in Dubai usually lands between AED 45,000 and 75,000 and takes 4 to 6 weeks from brief to handover. Below is what actually moves that number, how the build runs week by week, and how to get more than one show out of the same frame.

We work with marketing managers, founders and event leads at Dubai companies showing at DWTC, Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City and DIFC venues. Because design and manufacturing sit under one roof in Jebel Ali, we control the schedule instead of chasing a subcontractor.
Shell scheme or custom stand: which one fits your show
A shell scheme fits a small presence, a first show or a budget under AED 25,000. A custom stand earns its cost from 12 sqm upward, or whenever you need a demo zone, a meeting area or a structure that carries your brand instead of the organiser's.
A standard 9 sqm shell gives you walls, a fascia board, carpet and one or two spotlights. Most Dubai exhibitors then upgrade the back wall with printed graphics, add a counter and a small locked store, and change the carpet. That is enough for two people capturing leads and booking follow up meetings.
A custom or bespoke stand is drawn from your floor plan up and manufactured as joinery. You choose the ceiling, the lighting, the finishes and the traffic flow, and you can add a raised platform, a storeroom or a hospitality counter. At DWTC and Dubai Exhibition Centre, shell heights sit around 2.5m and custom builds commonly go to 3m or 4m with written venue approval. Rigging above 4m needs a load plan.
Colour planning matters more than people expect in a large hall. We keep accent colours consistent across your show calendar, for example brand turquoise #6CC7CA with deep teal #0F4F52 on dark back panels, so the stand still reads clearly under mixed hall lighting.
You can see how these choices look in our recent exhibition stand and fit-out projects.
From brief to handover: the design to install timeline
Plan on 4 to 6 weeks in total. Design takes 5 to 7 working days, joinery production 10 to 14 working days in our workshop, and installation 2 to 3 nights on site.
- Brief and site data. One to two working days. We need the show name, hall, stand number, stand size, open sides and any venue height or rigging limits.
- Concept and 3D visuals. Five to seven working days. You get a layout, elevations and a render showing graphics zones, lighting and storage.
- Costing and sign off. One to two working days. The quotation is itemised in AED so you can cut a screen or a counter without renegotiating the whole stand.
- Joinery production. Ten to fourteen working days. Cutting, laminating, spraying and assembly happen in our Jebel Ali unit, so nothing waits on an outside factory.
- Graphics and finishing. Three to five working days. Printed panels, vinyl, acrylic lettering and final hardware checks.
- Installation. Two to three nights, usually 8pm to 6am. Most venues allocate a fixed build window, and overnight work keeps your team free during show hours.
- Handover and show support. We hand over a clean stand before doors open and stay reachable for the duration of the show.
If you brief us inside three weeks of build up day, expect a rush premium of 15 to 25 percent and a design that reuses our existing modular frames rather than starting from zero.

Upholstered joinery, shaped wall features and layered lighting, the same level of detail we build into exhibition stands.
What drives exhibition stand cost in Dubai
Size sets the floor of the price. Complexity, materials, graphics, A-V, lighting, rigging and permits decide the final figure. The two enquiries we get most in Jebel Ali are a 9 sqm shell upgrade at a Dubai exhibition and a 12 sqm custom build at DWTC, and they sit in very different brackets.
- 9 sqm shell upgrade, 3m by 3m: AED 18,000 to 25,000. Includes fascia branding, printed back wall, carpet upgrade, one counter, two spotlights and a small locked store.
- 12 sqm custom stand, 4m by 3m: AED 45,000 to 75,000. Includes design, joinery, raised floor, integrated lighting, reception counter, storeroom and installation.
- Printed graphics: AED 250 to 450 per sqm, depending on panel type and finish.
- Screens and A-V: AED 3,500 to 12,000 for a 55 inch to 85 inch display, media player and mounting.
- Lighting: AED 3,000 to 8,000 for track, accent and feature lighting tied to the stand design.
- Rigging and suspended elements: AED 2,500 to 6,000 plus venue rigging charges.
- Power connection and distribution: AED 1,200 to 3,000 depending on single or three phase supply.
- Permits, insurance and venue submissions: AED 1,500 to 4,000, handled by us.
Worked example. A software company based in Jebel Ali booked 12 sqm at DWTC for a five day show. Design, joinery, reception counter, locked store, printed back wall, two 55 inch screens and six track lights came to AED 57,800. Re-skinning the same frame with new graphics for the next event was AED 19,400.
Send your stand size and show details to request a stand design quote and we will come back with an itemised AED breakdown, usually within two to three working days.
Built in our own Jebel Ali joinery workshop
Every panel, counter, ceiling feature and store is cut and finished in our own workshop in Jebel Ali. That removes the factory queue that slows subcontracted builds, and it means a damaged panel can be remade overnight instead of cancelling a graphic.
The bigger commercial win is re-use. Our modular system breaks into standard panels and frames, so the same structure works across a GITEX cycle, Arabian Travel Market and the Hotel Show with a new skin rather than a new build. Panels are stripped, repaired and stored in our unit, then re-cut with fresh graphics and re-branded for the next show.
Typical numbers: storage from around AED 350 per month for a pallet of panels and frames, and a full re-skin at 30 to 40 percent of the original build cost. A stand first built for AED 60,000 can return for AED 18,000 to 24,000, which is often the difference between booking two shows a year and booking four.

Venue permits, rigging, power and DET paperwork
You need a venue approved contractor, fire certificates for every material, electrical drawings, a rigging load plan and DET paperwork submitted before build up. This is the part that quietly delays first time exhibitors, and it is why we handle submissions in house.
- DWTC requires stand drawings, material fire certificates, electrical loads and rigging details submitted around three to four weeks before build up.
- Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City runs a similar process with its own contractor rules and build windows.
- DIFC venues and hotel ballrooms usually ask for a smaller scale submission but stricter finishing standards, because the space stays in use around the event.
- Power is normally ordered as 16A or 32A single phase, or 63A three phase for stands with heavy A-V or catering. Under-order and you will be renting generators on site.
- Rigging points, truss loads and any suspended signage must be signed off by a qualified rigger, and most venues only allow their own approved crew to fly the load.
- Public liability insurance and a trade licence copy are requested with the submission, so keep both current.
How to choose an exhibition stand contractor in Dubai
Check three things before you sign: portfolio at the venue you are booked into, whether the joinery is in house or subcontracted, and whether the contractor can store and re-use your stand.
- Portfolio. Ask for photo sets from the same hall and a similar stand size, not just renders. Our exhibition stand design and build services in Dubai page shows the range we deliver.
- In house versus subcontracted. A contractor without a workshop is a project manager with a phone. Lead times and quality both get less predictable.
- Storage and re-use. Ask where the stand goes after the show and what a re-skin costs. This single question changes your three year exhibition budget.
- References. Speak to two recent clients at the same venue type and ask about install night problems, not just the design.
- Itemised quotes. A single line total hides the extras. You want graphics, A-V, rigging, power and permits priced separately in AED.
- Post show support. Stands get damaged. Ask who repairs panels and who answers the phone on day two of the show.
If you are comparing this against other types of interior work, our more Dubai fit-out cost and process guides cover joinery, timelines and pricing in the same format.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a custom exhibition stand cost in Dubai?
For a 12 sqm custom stand, expect AED 45,000 to 75,000 including design, joinery, lighting, basic graphics and installation. A 9 sqm shell scheme upgrade usually lands between AED 18,000 and 25,000. Add AED 3,500 to 12,000 for screens and A-V, and AED 2,500 to 6,000 if the design needs rigging or suspended elements.
How long does exhibition stand design and build take in Dubai?
Design takes 5 to 7 working days, joinery production 10 to 14 working days in our Jebel Ali workshop, and installation 2 to 3 nights on site. From signed brief to handover the total is usually 4 to 6 weeks. Book at least 6 weeks before build up day so you are not paying a rush premium.
Do you handle venue permits and DET paperwork for us?
Yes. We prepare stand drawings, material fire certificates, electrical loads and rigging plans for approval by DWTC, Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City or DIFC venue teams, and we submit DET paperwork on your behalf. Submissions usually need to go in three to four weeks before build up.
Can you store our stand and re-use it at the next show?
Yes. Modular panels, counters and frames are cleaned, repaired and stored in our Jebel Ali unit, then re-skinned with new graphics for the next GITEX, Arabian Travel Market or Hotel Show cycle. A re-skin typically costs 30 to 40 percent of the original build, so a stand built for AED 60,000 can return for AED 18,000 to 24,000.
What size stand do we need for a two person sales team?
A 3m by 3m stand works for two people if the goal is lead capture and short conversations. Move to 4m by 3m or larger once you need a meeting table, a product demo zone or a locked store. Anything above 18 sqm should be designed around visitor traffic flow rather than graphics alone.
What information do you need to quote for a stand?
Send the show name, hall and stand number, stand size, stand type, a rough idea of what you want visitors to do, and your budget range. We reply with a concept direction and an itemised AED quotation, usually within two to three working days.
